New York City: Where To Eat, Drink, And Party


Los Angeles is a vibrant city with a unique and diverse lifestyle. It is made of many unique communities each with it's own culture and style of living. This extreme diversity makes Los Angeles like no other city in the world.

Some of the most popular venues in Los Angeles are Olvera Street, the Hollywood Bowl, and the Getty Center. Each one offers something different for the tourists as well as residents of LA.

Olvera Street is the block long cobblestone street rich in Mexican traditions, including art, clothing leather goods and accessories. The Visitors Center offers a complimentary screening of a movies which shows life in LA back in the early days of the city.

The Hollywood Bowl is the largest natural amphitheater in the US. People from all over Southern California enjoy the many concerts offered throughout the summer. Musically there is something for everyone from jazz, to the famed Philharmonic to great top name concerts. All done under the stars.

The Getty Center is a complex of buildings located in Brentwood, and is one of two places that houses the J. Paul Getty Museum. The best thing about the Getty Center is that admittance to the exhibits is free! Besides the museum there is also the Getty Research Center, The Getty Conservation Institute, The Getty Foundation, and The Getty Trust.

After all that walking around you may feel the need for something to eat or drink. Don't worry restaurants and bars are very plentiful in Los Angeles. There is something for every palate and every pocketbook. A couple of good restaurants are Zankou Chicken, and Phillipe The Original.

Zankou Chicken is a very well know Lebanese place that specializes in rotisserie chicken served up with a special garlic sauce that makes your eyes water. They also serve spicy grilled beef (shawerma), eggplant salad (mutabbal) and spicy sausage (soujouk). They are located at 5065 W. Sunset Blvd. Zankou also has locations in West LA, Glendale, Toluca Lake, Pasadena, Anaheim, and Burbank.

Phillipe Original was founded in 1908 and it's claim to fame is the invention of the French Dip. It's available with beef, turkey, pork, ham, or leg of lamb. Phillipe's also offers a large selection of desserts.They store is located at 1001 N Alameda St.

Ready to party? There are plenty of bars available to wet your whistle after a long day of sightseeing. Try Blue 32, Hermosa Beach it has been rated a top singles bar. The Whiskey on the Sunset Strip has the best live music venue. The Best Hollywood bar The Sky Bar in West Hollywood.

A trip to Los Angeles isn't complete without checking out Hollywood. The famed Hollywood sign is the most visible sign in the area. There are plenty of things to do and see while in Hollywood. One of top activities to see is a visit to Universal Studios. Try a stroll down Hollywood Blvd and see the stars on the sidewalk. It is quite an extensive walk and encompasses many of the side streets of Hollywood Blvd. Gaurman's Chinese Theater has a long history in Hollywood and is the venue site for the release of The Wizard of Oz in 1939. Be sure to check out the hand and footprints in the cement around the outside.

A walk down Rodeo Drive leads to some of the most exclusive and expensive shopping in the world. Many of the stores are only open by appointment. While in Beverly hills check out the Beverly Whilsire Hotel. This place has been used in many films throughout history, the most famous is probably Pretty Woman.

A trip to the beach and the beautiful blue ocean is a must do. The famous beach community of Santa Monica is a short drive from LA. It is a unique place with nice sandy beach which has many activities to offer including, swimming, volleyball, surfing and biking.

The famous Santa Monica Pier celebrated its 100th birthday lin September of 2009. It has an amusement park which includes a 1922 carousel and lots of little shops offering bars to party at, restaurants and gift shops. The Santa Monica Pier is open 365 days a year and has free admission.
